Student Transportation Inc. recognized employee Les Johnson, a Santa Maria school bus driver and in-service trainer, as one of the best and brightest when it comes to safety.

Managers and general managers nominated employees with the Student Transportation Inc. network who went above and beyond their duties to make safety a top priority at the company’s more than 130 locations throughout the United States and Canada. A selection committee determined the final recipients from each region.

Criteria for safety-based recognition include accident-free service, community service and involvement, reliability and knowledge of company policies and procedures, perfect attendance, good character and attitude, and exceptional performance in their roles.

Johnson and 12 other wall-of-fame inductees attended the awards dinner in Ashbury Park, N.J. Johnson’s manager, Andrea Leonard, said in a press release that Johnson is a wonderful and patient trainer who shares all of his knowledge with others. He has also been to five national Roadeo championships. The Roadeo is a driving skills and maintenance disciplines competition.

ā€œHe mentors new drivers and always helps them with safe driving practices as well as Roadeo maneuvers,ā€ Leonard said in the release. ā€œLes is great.ā€
