PG&E recently established the Bright Minds Scholarship program as a way to help people pursue a higher education. Approximately 10 scholarships of up to $30,000 each will be awarded, and any remaining awards will be $2,500 each.

In order to apply, students must be at least 16 years old, a high school senior or graduate, the recipient of a GED certificate, or a current undergraduate student. Applicants must also live within the PG&E service area and be planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, or a vocational-technical school for the 2012-13 academic year.

The application deadline is Feb. 17.
