Airmen, airwomen, and their families, as well as any Central Coast resident, can now take Allan Hancock College courses inside a new 38,384-square-food education center at Vandenberg Air Force Base in Lompoc.
The new building replaced a 55-year-od elementary school campus that served as the baseās education center. The new facility is adjacent to the enlisted dorms, the main gates, and military family housing, and includes a 75-seat auditorium, 20 lecture classrooms, conference rooms, a library, computer labs, and counseling offices.
Five Hancock classes are being offered during the spring semester; three of those are eight-week classes that will run March 24 through May 22.
Hancock has been offering classes at Vandenberg since 1952, when the base was called Camp Cooke. The center is open Mondays from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It offers counseling, financial aid, and cashiering services.
