It’s back: the Traffic Solutions Commute Challenge. The annual competition has returned with more prizes for participating teams. Here’s how it works: Teams of five people resolve to drive alone less and keep track of how often they succeed. At the end of the competition, the team with the highest number of sustainable transportation days wins the grand prize.

The top team receives $100 for each member, and weekly raffle prizes include iPods, gift certificates, and more. To get started, visit www.trafficsolutions.info and register. Each team must have five members, at least two of whom have to be single drivers—not commuters or regular bike riders—to qualify for prizes.

Teams log on daily to the commute challenge Web site and log in their miles, whether they ride the bus, carpooled, or rode their bike to work. The contest lasts from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30.
