Concerning your Jan. 13 article, “Gov. Brown’s budget proposal upsets nearly everyone,” I’m not sure how everything will turn out with our budget. But if he’s managing to piss everyone off, he’s probably doing good. At least it seems like he’s not using smoke and mirrors and temporary quick fixes like the former Governator did.
Opinion
People are siding with Fighting Back employees
Shame on you for making light of a very serious situation going on at Fighting Back (“Big trouble all around us, Jan. 13)! Those employees have literally been mentally abused, harassed, and treated like dogs by Teresa Menchaca. The way she treats people/employees is appalling! Her best friend is Alice Patino, who is the president […]
Dig deep, find courage to fix Fighting Back
I would like to express my disappointment in the opinion piece written about the issues happening at Fighting Back Santa Maria Valley (“Big trouble all around us, Jan. 13). If you have a pet, make time to care for it

What’s next, Cash for Geezers?
On my drive home yesterday, an advertisement over my car radio told me how much the Cancer Society needed old cars donated to help them fight cancer. Then I remembered watching the Youtube video where cars were turned in for the government program called “Cash for Clunkers.” They took in cars, some better than mine, […]
On steak and parking
Congratulations to the Far Western. It will be convenient to have a great steak house of this caliber in Old Orcutt. I do plan to patronize it when it opens; it’s in walking distance. Parking will not be a problem for me. However, parking is a concern that needs to be addressed now. Greed for […]
