Believe it or not: The Elk’s Rodeo is right around the corner, and organizers are looking for a few good flag carriers. Sponsor flags recognize official rodeo supporters, and someone’s got to carry them. On horseback.
Tryouts are scheduled for 9 a.m. on March 14 at the Elk’s event center in Santa Maria. Contestants must audition on the horse they’ll ride in the actual event. Judges will watch for horsemanship, arena procedure, appearance, personality, and the overall combination of all of the above.
