Maggie Anton, author of the Rashi’s Daughters trilogy, will appear for a book signing program at Temple Beth El in Santa Maria at 7 p.m. on Oct. 5.

Rashi was a revered, 11th century Jewish scholar who lived in France. Anton’s three historical novels tell the stories of his beloved daughters, Joheved, Rachel, and Miriam, and recreate the daily life of Jewish women in medieval times.

Anton is a Talmudic scholar who writes about Bible study, marital relations, life-cycle events, and superstitions common to the era. Visit her website at rashisdaughters.com.

Admission to the event is $10. Temple Beth El’s book club will meet at 6 p.m. on Oct. 3 for a potluck and discussion of Anton’s first book, Rashi’s Daughters: Joheved. For more information, call 354-0480.
