Performers of all types may audition for Santa Maria Has Talent 2011. Up for grabs in the second annual talent event is a $1,000 first prize.

Open auditions will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on March 5 at Orcutt Presbyterian Church, 993 Patterson Road, in Santa Maria. They’ll continue on March 6 from 2 to 5 p.m. Auditions are free.

The contest is open to singers, dancers, instrumentalists, actors, groups, and ensembles of all ages. Note that the comedian category was eliminated this year, and bands can’t be accommodated because of set-up time.

The competition, sponsored by Santa Maria Rotary South, will be held at 7 p.m. on April 7, 8, and 9 at the Santa Maria Vet’s Hall. The winner will receive the Coast Hills $1,000 Talent Award. All proceeds will go to local charitable organizations.
