PCPA resident artist expands engagement

Pacific Conservatory Theatre (PCPA) announced Kitty Balay, resident artist, has expanded her engagement with the group.

Balay has appeared in more than 80 productions and teaches Voice and Speech within in the conservatory, and will now also serve as the conservatory's director of engagement. According to a release from PCPA, the actress, director, and teacher "will be initiating and implementing special audience engagement activities geared to enhance the audience experience, cultivate new connections for the theater in the community, and increase the vitality of PCPA's relationship with existing patrons."

Balay will also lead a verbatim theatre project known as PCPA's Community Speaks, and PCPA Reads, which involves actors reading books to local elementary students. She will also conduct workshops such as the Audition Training class young performers used to help them audition for Peter Pan. Balay has a Master of Fine Arts from UC Irvine and has been with PCPA since 1989.
