The Pacific Conservatory Theatre (PCPA) is set to present Arcadia, a highly acclaimed play by Tom Stoppard.
Set in different time periods, Stoppard (who wrote the award-winning Shakespeare in Love) tells the story of the Coverly family, as their lives unfold over many years. Arcadia starts in 1809 with the story of 13-year-old Thomasina, who is under the tutelage of Septimus Hodge. The play moves forward in time following the Coverlys, including present-day descendants researching a family scandal that occurred in 1809. Ā
Described as a romance and mystery, Arcadia is considered by many theater critics to be one of the greatest stage plays of all time. The cast includes Peter S. Hadres as Jellaby, Andrew Philpot as Captain Brice, Polly Firestone Walker as Lady Croom, George Walker as Bernard Nightingale, Amani Dorn as Hannah Jarvis, and Katie Fuchs-Wackowski as Chloe Coverly.
Arcadia runs from Aug. 16 through 25 in the Marian Theatre at Allan Hancock College and from Aug. 30 through Sept. 9 at the Solvang Festival Theater. For tickets or more information on the play, visit www.pcpa.org.Ā
