The Santa Maria Police Activities League is looking for volunteers to teach youth the importance of boxing with the P.A.L. boxing program.

Volunteers will work as mentors assigned to youth and teens ranging from 10 to 17 years old, teaching them the fundamentals of boxing. Applicants must be able to obtain a certificate for first aid and CPR training, pass a Live Scan, work a minimum of 20 hours per week, and be able to obtain a USA Boxing Passbook.

Volunteers may be responsible for getting a teen ready for boxing competition, and may also be asked to set up boxing shows and help with discipline inside the Minami Center.

To become a volunteer, call Javier Montes at 925-0952, Ext. 517, or e-mail jmontes@ci.santa-maria.us; or call Jason Davie at 925-0951, Ext. 516, or jdavie@ci.santa-maria.us.
