The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) announced its grant recipients for the first of two grant cycles in 2012, including several nonprofit organizations supporting local athletics and recreation.
The VCB awarded a total of $11,000 in grant money to groups, including the Santa Maria Swim Club, to support its Novice Champs Swim Meet in March, and the West Coast Kustoms Car Club for its Cruisinā Nationals auto event in May, which brings nearly 30,000 attendees to Santa Maria.
Other recipients included the Bent Axles Street Rod Club, in support of its Cruise and Barbecue Weekend in July; the Santa Maria Fairpark for the Strawberry Festival; Triple Crown Sports, in support of its Central Coast Showdown event in July; and the Coastal Valley Soccer Club, for its Cool Summer Cup in June.
Funded by the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor and Convention Bureau, the Special Projects Grant program is an annual service designed to stimulate the local economy.
