The winners of the 2011 Small Works juried exhibition at the Santa Maria Public Library have been announced.
“There are many great pieces in this exhibition, from clever presentation, elegant simplicity, to indefinably lively,” said judge Martin Johnsen.
Awards included Best in Show: Sheryl Knight for November in Sonoma, oil on linen; Award of Excellence: Susan Buchanan for Summer Garden, mixed media; Award of Distinction: Beve Hoebel for Pasture Pals, oil; Award of Merit: Dale Cornwell for Black and White, mixed media; and Honorable Mention: Karen Carson for Lamp Light, Polaroid transfer.
The contest was open to Central Coast artists who live in North Santa Barbara County from Santa Ynez in the south, up to and including the Five Cities area in San Luis Obispo County.
The exhibition will run through April 16 in the Shepard Hall Gallery.
