Alyssa Ray is no stranger to the game of softball. Sheās been playing since she was 5, and since then, sheās accumulated quite a few honors from the field.
While attending Lompoc High School, Ray was appointed to All-League every year she played softball. After graduation, she began to play for Allan Hancock College and, following her first season with the team, was distinguished with an honorable mention in the West State Conference.
Ray has also been more than impressive in the eyes of her coach, Scia Maumausolo.
āSheās spunky, aggressive, and doesnāt like to lose,ā Maumausolo said. āSheās just what we need on the team.ā
Ray, now the appointed team captain and shortstop, is looking forward to the first game of the season, which will pit her against Foothill College in San Luis Obispo. The Bulldogs have never played Foothill before, but Ray has high hopes for the team.
For the future, sheās planning to attend Northridge to get a bachelorās degree in liberal arts, and she aspires to play softball on that schoolās team.
After college, though, she yearns to coach softballāfollowing in the footsteps of her father, who coached baseball.
