Earth-friendly and health-conscious are the buzzwords for a new coffee and smoothie shop just opened in the lobby of Lompoc’s In-Shape City at 501 W. Central Avenue.
“I Need Coffee” is the brainchild of a local couple, Lindsay Manzo and Joshua Cossman, who sought to open a business that would be accountable to both its customers and the planet. All of the shop’s coffees, teas, and cocoas are certified organic and their whole fruit smoothies are made with no added sugars or preservatives.
Being a member of In-Shape City isn’t a requirement to be an “I Need Coffee” customer, though the shop specializes in pre- and post-workout fare like “The Protein Blast.” Boosts like soy and whey protein, creatine, bee pollen, and ginseng are available to spice up the beverages, which are served in special biodegradable cups made from corn plastic.
Store hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. The shop is closed on Sundays.
