The City of Santa Maria recently extended its application deadline for several boards and committees, including the Santa Maria All-America City Committee, Code Compliance Board, and Landmark Committee.

According to city officials, applications for the Santa Maria Code Compliance Board will be accepted until Jan. 16 at 5 p.m. There will be one appointment made to the board for a two-year term.Ā

Members of the Code Compliance Board assess law and other violations to determine whether they’re public nuisances, and then order appropriate abatement methods or penalties. The Code Compliance Board usually meets on a monthly basis and submits periodic reports to the City Council.

Applications for the All-America City Committee and Landmark Committee will be accepted until Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. There will be one appointment made to the All-America City Committee for a two-year term, and one appointment made to the Landmark Committee for a three-year term.

Members of the All-America City Committee evaluate the civic health of the community and work to build partnerships between the public and private sectors. The committee meets on the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Committee members represent various segments of the community, including business, community education, ethnic diversity, low-moderate income, nonprofit, and youth. There’s currently a vacancy for the community education representative.

Members of the Landmark Community advise the City Council on the preservation and designation of historical landmarks. Applicants for the committee must be Santa Maria residents.

Board and committee members are nominated by City Council members, appointed by the mayor, and confirmed by the City Council.

Applications can be submitted online at ci.santa-maria.ca.us or by contacting the City Clerk’s Office at 925-0951, Ext. 305.
