The Cachuma Lake Recreation Area offers many recreational events for the community, but one of the lake’s programs makes local anglers especially happy. Cachuma Lake receives regular trout plants, including up to 300 pounds of fish for each plant.

Full loads of triploid trout were dropped off for the months of November and December, but the Jan. 9 plant will feature nothing but pure rainbow trout. The triploids especially can reach up to trophy size at Cachuma Lake, but many of the fish that will arrive via the plant can be as many as 9 pounds.

The Neal Taylor Nature Center will also include a “Cachuma Lake Discovery Table” event on Jan. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon, featuring a hands-on presentation of natural treasures from the park.
