Four Ernest Righetti High School clubs are working together to bring holiday joy to the Good Samaritan Homeless Shelter with a dinner event on Dec. 7.

The dinner is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. with students providing and serving food to folks staying at the shelter. The students will also distribute gifts that include books, hygiene products, toys, and other items they purchased through fundraising efforts.

Interact, Project Humanity, We Create Change, and the Central Coast Sports Network are the clubs responsible for the event. One of the athletes will also dress up as Santa Claus.

Seniors Lesther Valenzuela and Danny Luu spearheaded the community outreach effort.

“We want to provide support to the community and those in need,” Valenzuela said in a press release. “It’s really our responsibility.”

Righetti teacher Deanna Byrne believes the students are on the right track.

“As teachers, what else could we hope for?” Byrne said in the press release. “It really feels like they are getting it. This will not be the last time they do something like this.”
