On Oct. 1, First 5 Santa Barbara County will welcome two of the nation’s leading child development experts to its annual Champions for Young Children Conference in Buellton.
The daylong conference is designed to provide Santa Barbara County parents, teachers, and childcare professionals with the latest information to support the healthy development of young children.
The two experts set to speak are J. Ronald Lally, co-director of the Center for Child and Family Studies at WestEd, a national education research agency; and Eugene Garcia, vice president of Education Partnerships at Arizona State University.
Both experts will focus their presentations on how early language experiences shape a child’s social, emotional, and intellectual development. The conference agenda also includes opportunities for participants to interact with the speakers.
The Champions for Young Children Conference will be held at the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott in Buellton from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration must be completed online at first5santabarbaracounty.org.
