If you or your parents earn a livelihood by providing agricultural labor, you might be exempt from paying non-resident tuition at Allan Hancock College and other California community colleges.

According to a press release from Hancock, the California Education Code states that students who are employed, or whose parents are employed, in seasonal agriculture work—such as seeding, thinning, and harvesting—might qualify to pay in-state fees.

To confirm this exemption, students must provide the college’s admissions and records office with pay stubs showing two months of employment in an agricultural setting for the last two years.

Students can also qualify by providing a copy of their Migrant Education Program certificate of eligibility or a Seasonal Agricultural Employment Verification form signed by their employer.

The exemption eligibility form is available at the Allan Hancock College Admissions and Records Office on the Santa Maria campus, or online at hancockcollege.edu.

For more information, call the Admissions and Records Office at 922-6966, Ext. 3248.
