Café Noir in Santa Maria is going to play host to a veritable cornucopia of art on May 18 in “An Afternoon of Poetry, Art, and Drama” from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the café, 1555 S. Broadway, Santa Maria.
The event will feature poetry readings by BJ Riley, who’s written several books of poetry, including Love Lost Found and Body Felt, Body Beautiful. She hopes to elicit any kind of emotion from her audiences, inviting everyone to join her on a poetic journey.
There will be a readers’ theater performance of a play by Michael Corob, titled Adam and Eve and the Persimmon Tree, featuring volunteer actors, many of whom attend Unity Chapel of Light in Orcutt, a nondenominational church.
To close out the event, Corob will also share a demonstration of sublimation printing, which he uses to transfer his vibrant, lively watercolors to tiles.
Seating for the event is limited, so reservations are encouraged. More information is available at 264-6722 or youani@aol.com
