The place to go for laser tag, video games, and some good clean fun, MotionZ, is shutting its doors for the last time on July 27 at 7 p.m.
āThe economic times have affected everyone and has hit us especially hard. We are proud of the product we have offered to our guests and patrons.Ā It has never been about the money for us, although it would have been nice to have more money coming in,ā said owner George Majoue in a news release.
George and his wife, Mary Alice Majoue, started MotionZ in 2004 as a place that teens and kids could go to have fun while in an alcohol- and drug-free environment. The laser tag and arcade has been located in the Santa Maria Town Center since it opened.
It was also a place for local bands to play and a host to numerous birthday parties, and corporate and team events over the last four years, according to the release. Through MotionZ, George and Mary Alice supported education and nonprofit activities throughout the Santa Maria Valley. They helped support schools with the Games for Grades and Personal Best Certificate programs, and worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Boys and Girls Club, CASA, YMCA, Breakfast Rotary Club, Santa Maria Philharmonic Society, and a variety of other organizations.
āWhat has been most important are the relationships we have developed with our associates, our guests and patronsāespecially the teens and young adults,ā George said.Ā āWe have been touched in so many ways by so many people through our business MotionZ encourages all of its guests with outstanding gift cards and gift certificates to use them on or before July 27.Ā For information about hours of operation and specials currently in effect, go to www.motionz.net, or call 922-6922.
