• Pioneer Valley released a press release announcing the hiring of Alan Brafman as the new head soccer coach. According to the release, Brafman brings with him a high level of energy and Pioneer Valley is excited about Brafman’s enthusiasm and expertise. Brafman is a well-known local coach, former player, and referee. From 2004 to 2006, he was a soccer coach for St. Joseph and is currently a Spanish teacher at Nipomo high school.
• A press release from the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District announced the new head football coach for Righetti high school. Ed Hermann, who’s taught at Righetti as a health teacher for nine years, was selected to take over for longtime coach Gary Wilson. Hermann has been coaching football locally since 1992.
