Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War
What’s it rated? R
When? 2026
Where’s it showing? Prime Video
Andrew Bernstein directs this feature length installment in the Jack Ryan franchise, this time starring John Krasinski from the Jack Ryan TV show spinoff (2018-23). Before Krasinski, Harrison Ford, Chris Pine, and Ben Affleck had played the character—a former U.S. marine who became a professor at the U.S. Naval Academy before working as an analyst for the CIA, and later a reluctant field operator.
When this film opens, Ryan is out of the spy game and working as a stockbroker on Wall Street, split from his wife and disillusioned with his time as an operative, but when his old boss James Greer (Wendell Pierce) come calling with a simple “favor”—fly to Dubai and retrieve a package—you know it’s going to go sideways. The adventure that also involves MI6 agent Emma Marlow (Sienna Miller) takes him to London.
In the grand scheme of the franchise, this one’s pretty middling, but if you have Prime and you like spycraft and action, it will do. The scenery and cinematography are great, and Krasinski brings a quippier and goofier vibe to the resourceful character. I didn’t hate it. (105 min.)
