The news that Lance Armstrong has come out of retirement has made it all the way through the press and back again, but there’s one small city that has yet to sing his praises. Solvang is very happy that Armstrong is back and will be racing in the Amgen Tour of California.

“We are thrilled that Lance is competing in the Tour and coming back to Solvang,” Tracy Farhad, executive director of the Solvang Conference & Visitors Bureau, said in a release. “Lance has spent many weeks in years past training here in Solvang prior to his Tour de France wins, and we’re hopeful that he will come back here again with his new team.”

Solvang will host the Amgen Tour of California time trials for the third year in a row on Feb. 20, 2009. For more information, visit www.tourofcalifornia-solvang.com.
