The historic Artesia School in Lompoc will get a much-needed facelift thanks to the generosity of donors. Lompoc Valley’s first country school, which operated from 1876 to 1961, was in need of a new porch and paint when the Lompoc Museum sent out a plea for donations. Now, $11,400 in donations later, the school will get those repairs. Operation of the Artesia School Museum has been a joint effort between the Lompoc Unified School District, the Lompoc Museum, and the Lompoc Valley Historical Society since it opened as a museum in 1995.
