The city of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department, People for Leisure and Youth (PLAY), and the Elks Recreation Foundation will co-host a family-friendly, drive-in-style screening of Ferdinand at the Elks Event Center on Saturday, Sept. 26. The film will be projected onto a 32-foot inflatable screen, which attendees can enjoy viewing from the comfort and safety of their own vehicles.Ā

Ferdinand is a 2017 animated film that follows a young bull who escapes from a training camp in rural Spain after his father never returns from a showdown with a matador. Years later, the bull is forced to return to his captors, who plan on making him face a famous bullfighter.

Admission to the drive-in screening is free but reservations are required online at cityofsantamaria.org/register. Gates will open at 7 p.m. and the screening will start at dusk (about 8 p.m.).

Call the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department directly at (805) 925-0951, Ext. 2260, for more details. The Elks Event Center is located at 4040 Highway 101, Santa Maria.Ā
