Ameriprise Financial in Santa Maria hosts an opening reception for its next featured artist, Solvang resident Irina Malkmus, on Thursday, March 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. This showcase is one of a continuing series of exhibitions at the office, curated by financial advisor Terry Dworaczyk.
Malkmus was born and raised in Ukraine and became passionate about drawing and painting early in her childhood. Her paintings range from a variety of media, including oil, acrylics, pastels, and watercolor. Malkmus’ other artworks include mixed-media pieces and found objects. She is also eclectic in terms of style, as her works range from realism to surrealism. One theme that applies to most of Malkmus’ portfolio, though, is her effort to depict human emotions visually, according to the artist’s website.
Admission to Malkmus’ reception at Ameriprise Financial is free and open to the public. The artist will be present during the event to discuss her artwork and her personal process.
