The Santa Maria-Bonita School District Board of Education has begun the process of reviewing and updating the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP)—the plan that outlines the direction of the district and the programs and services that are provided to students. Students, parents, staff, and the community can provide feedback on how the district’s state-provided LCAP funding should be spent in coming years by attending the district’s board meetings and speaking during the public hearing portion of the meetings. The meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month.
The March 9 meeting will include a discussion of district needs and goal identification. The April 13 meeting will allow for brainstorming about actions and services to provide for students over the next few years. At the May 11 meeting, the board will prioritize the actions and services to be included in the plan. There will be two meetings in June. June 1 will allow for the review of the draft of the LCAP followed by the possible approval of the LCAP by the school board on June 8.
Emails can be sent to LCAP@smbsd.net to provide feedback about the programs and services.
