The Altrusa International Foundation of the Central Coast is now accepting applications for the fall 2013 grant funds the organization gives away each year. The funds are allocated for nonprofit agencies of the Santa Maria Valley for programs involving literacy, childcare, senior programs, and programs for people with disabilities.

All applications must be postmarked by Oct. 1, 2013 and must include seven copies of each application. Applications are available at the Children’s Resource and Referral Services, 705 E. Main St., Santa Maria and at the Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum, 705 S. McClelland St., Santa Maria.

To date, Altrusa has given away $450,000 in grants to local nonprofits and programs. The community can learn about Altrusa’s programs and grants at its regular meeting on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 624 E. Camino Colegio, Santa Maria.
