Hold on to your legacy, Seabiscuit, because here’s a horse that’s turning heads: a paint horse named Zippos Infatuation. Zippos recently snagged a world championship title at the 2009 Fall World Championship Paint Horse Show, held Nov. 5 through 14 in Fort Worth, Texas. The horse is a local, hailing from the farmland community of Guadalupe, owned by William McCarthy.
Karen Qualls of Chino Hills showed Zippos in the Junior Trail class. The paint horses are judged by their ability to successfully overcome six or so obstacles typically found on a trail. Champions also need to showcase their ability to responsively walk, jog, and lope in an attentive
manner.
Winning the World Championship Paint Horse Show is no small feat. It’s an exhibition that features only the finest collection of paint horses from all around the world, and this recent session boasted approximately 973 other paint horses. But Zippos, a horse that will never back down in the face of danger, stood out and brought home the prize.
