“There’s no crying in baseball” may be a sports rule, but a more applicable (and broad) one is “There’s no rest for the athlete.” And that certainly applies to Allan Hancock College sophomore Sadie DeQuattro. She’s only just finished volleyball season, and now she’s starting on softball.

This season may be her last on the volleyball team, but she ended it with a bang by being named on the first team All-Conference.

“I’m really excited,” DeQuattro said. “It’s a really big accomplishment for me.”

She’s also ranked 23rd in the state for assists, and third in the conference—she has 528 assists. She’s rated eighth in the conference for digs.

DeQuattro, who played the season as a setter and the team’s captain, has seen herself improve overall as a player and a leader. The team has also improved—the recent season has been its best in five years.

Since this will be her last year at Hancock, she’s sent in numerous applications to
universities in California and one in Kansas, with which she said she’s had unofficial talks. Wherever she lays down her books, she hopes to keep playing volleyball.
