Get off the couch, get in shape, and get ready to get dirty for a good cause at the inaugural Muddy Madness 5K charity race at Sky Ranch in Santa Ynez Valley on June 1.
Race proceeds will benefit scholarships and various programs at Allan Hancock College. The event will feature a barbecue, live music, and activities for kids.
Participants will venture through a series of obstacles, including monkey bars, a mud crawl, a slide, and, of course, a few new twists.
āItās more than just a mud run; we have events and entertainment for the entire family to come out and spend the day having a good time either running in the race or as spectators,ā race organizer Stu Gildred said in a recent press release.
Gildred was inspired to present this race after reading an article in Outside Magazine. According to the press release, there hasnāt been an event like this in Santa Ynez Valley or Santa Barbara County.
The race kicks off at 8 a.m. with participants heading out in intervals until noon. After racers complete the course, showers will be available, as will a valet to keep items safe. Everyone is invited to enjoy tri-tip, wood-fired pizza, beer gardens, and live music.
Registration in May is $85 and day-of registration is $100. For those who just want to watch, the cost is $20. Thereās a $10 discount for people who form teams.
