I am 10 years old. I ride my scooter a lot, and when my mom did not have a car, we walked, rode bikes, scootered, and took the bus everywhere. I have some ideas to help make us safer.

1. Bridges over busy roads justĀ for people, not cars.

2. More bike paths off the roadway.

3. Bike lanes that are painted a bright color so cars can see them better. And make them a little wider too.

4. More bike racks on the bus, or let us bring our bikes on the bus if it is not crowded. The bus hereĀ only has room for two bikes. The bus in San Luis has room for 4 to 6 bikes.

5. It should be legal to ride bikes on the sidewalks of busy streets as long as we are courteous to people walkingĀ on the sidewalks.

6. Clean the streets more often where there is stuff falling off the trees into the bike lanes.

Some people in cars are very nice and safe. Others when we’ve almost gotten hit were not paying attention and talking on their phones.

Some places we ride on the sidewalks a lot because we feel safer but sometimes it’s not because of street poles.

That’s why we would like to make our roads safer for people riding bikes and scootering. I hope you can use my ideas.
