The St. Mary of the Assumption girls’ basketball team finished off a near perfect season with an exciting win over Pacific Christian Academy.

On Thursday, March 21, the Squires swept the middle school championship tournament for the second year in a row, beating PCA 36-32. According to a recent press release from St. Mary’s, neither team led by more than six points during the game.

Both teams went point-for-point; the game came down to the final five seconds when the Squires sank two free throws to secure the win. The team finished off the season with an impressive 16-1 record; in the last two seasons, they’ve won 33 and lost only one game.

“I’m so happy and impressed by the hard work, poise, and sportsmanship of the team,” said Principal Michelle Cox. “Winning the regular season and championship tournament two years in a row is exciting for the entire school.”
