The city of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department encourages local artists to apply to redesign five traffic signal control boxes. Residents from Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties are welcome to apply.
The city suggests the art should relate to the community’s social, cultural, and/or historical identity. The city is offering a stipend of $500 and up to $200 in reimbursement for material costs.
The artist application deadline has been extended to 5 p.m. on Dec. 16. The application and box design template can be found at cityofsantamaria.org. For more info, contact the Recreation and Parks Department office at 925-0951, Ext. 2260.
