Bravery, kindness, love, perseverance, strength; each keyword holds a special place in any standard inspirational calendar. These themes and similarly empowering topics can also be found laced throughout the subject matter of pop artist Danielle Taylorās new album, Colors. Taylor and her backup band will be performing tracks from her latest project at Naughty Oak Brewing Company in Orcutt on Friday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The San Diego native and self-taught pianist debuted her first album, Donāt Turn On The Light, in 2011. In between recording three moreāThe Chase, 1440, Colorsāsince then, the California-based singer-songwriter has spent her career touring up and down the Pacific Coast, usually opening for other notable pop rock artists, such as Aaron Carter, Colby OāDonis, Howie Day, Kate Voegele, Lisa Loeb, and the late David Cassidy of The Partridge Family fame.

The Wicked Shamrock in Lompoc presents Wicked Halloween 2019, featuring live music from The Circus Starts at Midnight, on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 9 p.m. Influences of this local carnival cabaret act, led by frontman, manager, and creator Samuel Cole, include Tom Waits, Les Claypool, Cab Calloway, Nick Cave, and David Bowie. The Shine Box Boys will open for the band during this special Halloween event, which also includes a shadow puppet play and costume contest.

Studio C kicks off the Cold Spring Tavernās weekend lineup on Friday, Oct. 25, performing from 6 to 9 p.m. Classic rock and roots band Stillwater Sound performs an acoustic show the following afternoon, Saturday, Oct. 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. The Nombres take the stage that evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Santa Barbara-based group The Reserve (from 1 to 4 p.m.) and funk group Soul Biscuit (from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.) close out the tavernās weekly live music series on Sunday, Oct. 27. All shows at the venue are complimentary.
Grammy Award-winning Latin pop artist J Balvin will perform at the Chumash Casino Resort on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 8 p.m. Guests can expect to hear some of the Colombian musicianās biggest hits, including āYo Te Lo Dije,ā āMi Gente,ā āGinza,ā and āAy Vamos.ā Tickets to the concert, which takes place in the resortās Samala Showroom, range from $99 to $179 and are available in advance at chumashcasino.com.
Also in the Santa Ynez Valley, country act Colonel Angus performs at the Maverick Saloon on Friday, Oct. 25, from 8 to 11 p.m. The saloon also hosts local solo artist Jimi Nelson on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 8 to 11 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 27, from 1 to 5 p.m. Entry to each show is free.

Solo singer-songwriter Cyrus Clarke performs at Vino et Amicis Wine Bar in Orcutt on Friday, Oct. 25, from 7 to 10 p.m. This Americana artist has collaborated with several groups over his long career, including The Cache Valley Drifters, The Expedition, and The Acousticats, which he also founded. Fellow solo act Keith Cox performs at the bar the following evening, Saturday, Oct. 26, from 7 to 10 p.m. This singer-songwriter plays country and rock tunes and is best known locally for his work with Different Strings. Entry to both shows is complimentary. Cox will also be performing a free show at Blast 825 Brewery on Sunday, Oct. 27, at noon.Ā
