Allan Hancock College athletics announced the hiring of Tyson Aye as the new coach for the men’s basketball team. He’ll also serve as an instructor in the kinesiology, athletics, and recreation department.
Aye has spent the last eight years as the head coach for the men’s basketball team at Imperial Valley College. There, he led the team to back-to-back Pacific Coast Conference Championships in 2007 and 2008.
“My coaching style is very high intensity, but within a positive learning environment,” Aye said in a press release. “I always go into each season with high expectations, and my goal is to come in right away and compete for a conference championship.”
Aye will also be found in the classroom starting fall semester 2013, but his first order of business upon arriving on the Central Coast will be meeting with current players and recruiting new talent.
“I want to recruit the best athletes that I can that will represent me, the college, and the community in the best possible way,” Aye said.
