The Pacific Conservatory Theatre (PCPA) is seeking young performers for the next season’s holiday performance of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. A boy at least 8 years old and less than 5 feet tall is needed to play the part of Chip. Girls and boys at least 8 years old and less than 5 feet tall are needed to play Chip’s sisters and brothers as well as the town’s children.

Young performers need to be comfortable singing by themselves in front of a large audience. Auditions are Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at PCPA’s Rehearsal Studios, Columbia Business Center, 900 E. Stowell Road, Santa Maria. Those auditioning should be present at 10 a.m. to participate in a dance audition and learn the end of the song “Human Again.” They will then sing a portion of the song in groups and solo.

Rehearsals for Beauty and the Beast will start Sept. 27 and run Tuesday through Friday from 6:40 to 10:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 11 p.m. Technical rehearsals are Oct. 28 through Nov. 4 and the show runs from Nov. 5 through Dec. 23. Young performers won’t be called past 9 p.m. during regular rehearsals but may be called until 11 p.m. during technical rehearsals.
