Allan Hancock College soccer received All-Western State Conference honors this week, according to a recent Hancock Athletics press release.
The Lady Bulldogs had five players who earned honors, and the team finished the season 3-14-4. Sophomore MaryKate Smith was honored with All-Conference first team. Pioneer Valley graduate and freshmen Itzy Pinon Garcia and midfielder Courtney Crowe earned second team honors. Pinon Garcia led the team with eight goals and eight assists. Freshman players Valeria Zapeda and Janeth Bernal received honorable mention.
Men’s soccer also had five players named to All-Conference this week, and the team finished eighth in conference with a 3-16-2 record. Sophomore forward Andrew Velasquez was named to first team; he led the ’Dogs with eight goals and four assists. Sophomore defenders Ricardo Aparicio and Jason Balanzequi were named to second team. Freshmen Caleb Doane and Angel Rodriguez received honorable mention.
