Though both Allan Hancock College basketball teams struggled in 2010, four players took home Western State Conference Honorable Mention honors.

Conference officials selected freshmen Chrissy Bessermin and guard Ashley Bonenfant from the women’s team and picked sophomores Darion Capers and Sean Kelly to represent the men’s team.

Bonenfant, a guard from Cabrillo High, averaged 13.7 points a game, ranking seventh in the northern Western State Conference. She also averaged 1.9 assists and 2.2 steals per game throughout the season. Bessermin, a forward from Righetti, averaged 5.2 rebounds per game and ranked 16th in the conference in scoring.

On the men’s side, Capers averaged 9.9 points per game and Kelly averaged 9.4 points per game and 6.4 rebounds.
