The idea for the community service started in early November when advisor Art Foster told the team and new freshmen to start thinking about their community and in what ways they can give back.

They did. Within a week, the team found a fellow anonymous student whose family was in need. The team divided the cooking duties and was set to deliver the turkey and all the fixings on Thanksgiving morning.

ā€œI want them thinking about other people,ā€ said Foster, a Saints alumni from 1962. ā€œIt is my job as a teacher and mentor to make sure they are responsible to the community.ā€

The team, which started in 2007, has more than 25 members and two active race cars and a dragster.Ā

The school’s auto program has about 100 members.

ā€œThese young people are so amazing,ā€ Foster said in a press release. ā€œThey are learning how to be prepared and confident now and in the future.ā€
