The Lompoc Valley Art Association (LVAA) features the work of new member Carol Kemp in the exhibit Sacred Download: Art as Communion showing June 2 through 28 at the association’s Cypress Gallery, 119 E. Cypress Ave., Lompoc. The exhibit includes Kemp’s paintings, assemblage, and jewelry created in spiritual exploration, she explained in the LVAA’s most recent newsletter.
“I have always been aware of a communion with something larger than the small me, and creating becomes a vehicle to let go and let God guide me through this creative process we call art,” she said in the newsletter, “which, not surprisingly, also becomes a metaphor for living life.”
Kemp has worked in Santa Barbara County as an art teacher and co-owned an art studio in Solvang called the Art Clinic and joined the LVAA in April of this year. Her work is featured at the Cypress Gallery, 119 E. Cypress, Lompoc, along with other members’ work.
