Are you or someone you know interested in getting a discount on screenings for diabetes, heart disease, or prostate cancer? If the answer is yes, look no further than the Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital 31st annual Health Fair on Oct. 5.
The free fair runs from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott Hotel, 555 McMurray Road, in Buellton and is open to people of all ages.
Lab discount coupons will be available at the event for the aforementioned screenings. There will also be a limited number of discounted DEXA bone density screenings for $144 with a doctor’s referral, and digital screening mammograms for $174. Women interested in getting mammograms must make an appointment by calling 686-3967. Insurance isn’t accepted for these discounted services and payment is due at the time of the procedure.
In addition to the screenings, there will also be numerous information/vendor booths, giveaways, and refreshments, as well as a limited number of free flu shots
The hospital’s auxiliary is also being host to an annual jewelry sale fundraiser, featuring assorted necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings ranging in price from $5 to $15. All proceeds will benefit the hospital.
“We encourage women, men, and families to attend our health fair and discover how easy it is to take charge of your wellness here in the Santa Ynez Valley,” hospital vice president Wende Cappetta said in a press release. “For example, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month nationwide and we are proud to offer extensive information about early detection, prevention, and the hospital’s support services to members of our community.”
