We are appalled by your constant assault on the nuclear industry and in particular Diablo. Your latest commentary by the hysterical Rochelle Becker, titled “Don’t count on Diablo” (Dec. 11), begs the question: If we can’t count on this wonderful source of power, just how will we provide to the 2 million users if it is shut down as you are promoting?

Don’t excuse yourselves; you are promoting the nonsense in your paper. You even have an article about how the Pelosi look-alike Lois Capps is demanding harassment of the NRC. Do you media types know just what you are doing? Nuclear is the only salvation for a growing California. It is the only way we can meet SB 32.

Germany is closing its nuclear plants and now is importing coal for its power plants.

Earthquake faults are everywhere in California. Diablo is engineered for a reasonable event. Your writer does not have a clue about engineering, nor safety requirements. You are permitting a hysterical viewpoint to prevail in your paper and are totally biased on the subject.

Neither solar nor wind are a realistic substitute for nuclear. Just why can’t you or won’t you see that?

Thousands of acres of land are required to produce wind power anywhere near the nuclear rate—but far out in the deserts and only during the daylight hours. Nuclear is 24/7. Why is this so hard for you liberal media types to understand?
