Students at the Santa Barbara Business College set their goal at 125 pints of blood for a series of blood drives celebrating the college’s 125th year. The college was able to collect 18 pints of blood with the help of United Blood Services of the Central Coast at its first drive on April 4.

The next drive will most likely take place in about two months, which is when the students who donated on the 4th will be able to donate again, said Monica Raymond, a spokesperson for SBBC.

The blood drive is just one of many events the college has scheduled for this year, and SBBC is encouraging the community to help by joining in the students’ blood donation effort.

“We’re trying to help the county with their blood shortage,” Raymond said.
