June is the time for teens to start hunting for summer jobs, and the University of California is training North Santa Barbara County agencies to help 14- to 24-year-olds get ready for the workplace.
Two free Workforce Readiness Training workshops, sponsored by the County of Santa Barbara Workforce Investment Board, will teach the new “Money Talks—Should I Be Working?” curriculum in both English and Spanish. Lessons cover job personality and job searches with easy-to-use materials.
One workshop will take place in Santa Maria at the Minami Community Center, 600 W. Enos Dr., from 1:30 to 4:15 p.m. on June 15. Another will be held in Lompoc at the Board of Supervisors Conference Room, 401 E. Cypress Ave., from 9 to 11:45 a.m. on June 16.
