Susana Cardel is starting 2015 on a different foot. Sheās been the owner of Flower Carriage and Gifts since 2008, and this year sheās branching out with a new venture: Ms. Cardel Planner and Event Design.

The Flower Carriage itself isnāt changing any time soon. In fact, Cardel wants to keep it just as it isāand maybe expand a little bit, too. And while she did previously handle design through Elegant Details Floral and Event Design, her new business with its new name will involve her planning weddings, anniversaries, baby showers, quinceaƱeras, graduations, and even funerals. Sheās currently planning her first big event of the year: a Jan. 31 wedding at the Elks Lodge. After that, sheāll be preparing for an influx of business for Valentineās Day.
When she refers to her new business, Cardel calls it āMs. Cardel by Flower Carriage.ā To her, both businesses go hand in hand.
āThe focal point is to grow,ā she said. āItās a perfect combination to have the flower shop and to plan events.ā
When it comes to events, Cardel also has the decorations to go with themāas well as experience in the industry. She said that between all of her designers, the staff can claim more than 50 years of designing and planning experience, including one designer whoās been with the company for 28 years. Cardel refers to the designers as her ādiamonds.ā
Cardel herself has been in Santa Maria for at least 20 years, coming here from the city of Mexicali in Mexicoās state of Baja California.
Before becoming owner, she was a retail store manager for 14 years, then decided to open Elegant Details. Now she wants the public to know about her new businessāand that Flower Carriage is here to stay.
Ms. Cardel Planner and Event Design is at 2255 South Broadway, suite 15, in Santa Maria. For more information, call 922-0578, visit mscardel.com, or email ms.cardeleventdesign@gmail.com.
