It’s that time of the year again for nonprofit organizations in the Santa Maria Valley—time to file for the Altrusa International Foundation Fall grants. The deadline is Oct. 1.
“Any nonprofit organization, like the Boys and Girls Club, should apply,” Santa Maria chapter president Diane Alleman-Stevens said. “It’s simple to apply. Just fill out what the money is for, and how much you need.”
Alleman-Stevens said, typically, those who were awarded grant money in the spring portion of the fiscal year are the ones who receive money in the fall.
Nonprofits that didn’t receive grant money in the spring shouldn’t be dissuaded to apply, though.
Organizations that won last spring include: Community Partners in Caring; United Way of Northern Santa Barbara County Imagination Library; SMOOTH, Inc.; Friends of the Guadalupe Library; OUSD Campus Connection; Santa Maria Valley Humane Society; North County Rape Crisis; Central Coast Rape Council; Alliance for Pharmaceutical Access, Inc.; Orcutt Children’s Arts Foundation; Children’s Resource and Referral Service; Girl Scouts of California Central Coast; Mane Prairie Sanctuary; Teachers Network of Santa Barbara; Young Scientist Program; American Cancer Society Relay for Life; Santa Maria Philharmonic Society; PCPA Education and Outreach Program; Tommie Kunst Junior High School Crocheting Club; Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum; and Elks Mini Rodeo.
Grant money is restricted from being used by organizations that are primarily involved in political action, religious purposes, or legislation or lobbying.
The Altrusa International Foundation of Santa Maria has a history of supporting community programs that are in need.
