The fundamental flaw in the Santa Barbara County budget crisis is that the Board of Supervisors has been in denial for the past three years.
They ignore their money problems that, they, themselves, have caused by allowing out-of-control spending of the public money.
The board will claim they have a balanced budget as they pop open the champagne bottles while patting their own selves on their own backs at the expense of hard-working families in our county.
However, the fact is that they are spending money they no longer have and writing checks that are going bounce in the next two years.
Instead of re-structuring county government to make it more efficient, more responsive, and more aligned with the breadwinners of this county, the board has instead opted for spending cash on-hand and borrowing even more.
The board remains fixated on their “county family.” Why are they not just as concerned about the county’s breadwinners?
It’s high time for the Board of Supervisors to stop their selfishness. Rather than thinking only about themselves and their “county family,” it’s time to pay attention to the hard-working families of this county who are the county’s breadwinners.
